Lead Teachers
Megan O’Brien
Megan O’Brien joined the SCEIC team in 2004. She has earned her 40 hour child care credentialing and has a background in business. In addition to working at SCEIC, she and her husband own a tractor service business together.
Megan began as a volunteer here at the Center when her son, an SCEIC graduate, first enrolled in the school. As a parent of a child with autism, Megan has firsthand knowledge of the challenges in working with special needs children. When asked what she enjoys most about working with kids, she says, “It’s the challenge of getting children to experience new and different things.”
Teaching Assistants
Rubin Jaramillo
Rubin, better known as Mr. J, has been teaching since 2001. He holds a Bachelors of Music from University of FL and has a teacher certification from Florida Southern College. Mr. J has plans to become a Professor of Music Theory, but for now, he is helping to teach SCEIC students how music can precipitate learning in children and enhance curriculum.
Mr. J says he decided to become a teacher when he realized his natural ability to teach kids. The best part of the job is seeing the academic, physiological and general progress the students make throughout the year.
Angela Iaffaldano
Angela began her career here at SCEIC working in the after school program. It was her first experience working in childcare, but it was obvious to all of us that she was well suited for working with children. After spending a year as a full-time assistant in one of the VPK classrooms, Angela has opted to return to the after school care program as an assistant.
Angela has a Bachelors degree in Psychology and hopes to one day become a social worker. Meanwhile, she loves coming to work every day knowing that she is making a difference in the lives of children
