In the fall of 2015, the teachers at the Space Coast Early Intervention Center (SCEIC) set a goal to have an American flag pole at the school. Now, thanks to local VFW Post #4206, this goal was brought to life on August 5th, 2016 at 11:00 am. The community was invited to attend this event, which took place at the school, located at 3790 Dairy Rd. Melbourne, FL 32904.

Local dignitaries spoke at the event, while the VFW Women’s Auxiliary and Rolling Thunder presented the flags and oversaw the ceremony. Perhaps one of the most special moments, however, was the 5-year-old students of SCEIC singing and pledging the newly raised flag. Following the ceremony, SCEIC hosted a picnic and photo op, where teachers and community members alike posed with the newly raised flag.

“At SCEIC, not only do we challenge our students to set goals for themselves, but we also challenge our staff to set team goals for success as well. Adding a flag pole was a collaborative goal that our teachers set last year,” said Terri Clark, SCEIC’s Executive Director. “As a non-profit school, we rely on the support of our community to make things like this happen. Without the help of the VFW, we wouldn’t have been able to reach this goal. This ceremony will be special indeed – There won’t be a dry eye in the crowd!”
